The tourism profile for the Kawarthas Northumberland region (Northumberland/Peterborough/Kawartha Lakes) compiled by Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport (MTCS) include:  visitor statistics, visitor spending statistics, hotel statistics and tourism related establishments. Statistics for individual towns may not be available through MTCS research.  If you require visitor data for a specific census division, please contact Kim Macgregor from the Ministry's Tourism Research Unit  at or 416-314-7317.  Please note the most current visitor data will be 2 to 3 years prior since data is collected from Statisitics Canada the following year, analyzed using other research and then sent to the Ministry of Tourism Research Unit. From there the Ministry of Tourism research division extracts relevant visitor statistics and analyzes the data using other travel studies.

 Please note: due to Statistics Canada's changes in survey methodology, please use caution when comparing 2014 international (US and Overseas) to 2012 international data. Also beginning in 2013, international data is available at the provincial and region levels only, as Statistics Canada has suppressed international data at the Census Division level.


Traveling Activities and Motivations Survey (TAMS)

The Travel Activities and Motivation Survey (TAMS)  provides business, organizations and the general public  information which will help identify what motivates consumers / visitors in making travel decisions.TAMS provides detailed information on travellers' activities, travel motivators, places visited, type of accommodation used, impressions of Canada, its provinces and territories, demographics and media consumption patterns and helps identify existing and potential travel markets in North America.
